Maddogs beat BC

· FONUR

A try and conversion at the death gave the Dogs a 20–17 win, their first over BC since 2012.

The Maddogs met BC at Parsons Field on Sunday and fought to a tough 20–17 victory with a try and conversion at the death.

In fits and starts the Northeastern men showed flash and promise in the backline, despite missing starters, but mostly turned on a bit of the old-fashioned Maddog and overpowered BC with one of the beefiest packs we’ve seen since 2012. In a tense match for the spectators, the Dogs dominated possession and field position while defending like animals, but frequently misfired when linking with the backline.

Down four points with no time left on the clock, the Maddog forwards steamrolled the ball into BC territory and finally hooked up seamlessly with the backs to spin it all the way wide and dive over in the corner for the winning try. The excitement was palpable as the Dogs earned their first win over rival BC since 2012. Celebrating second-team players and spectators had to be herded off the field so the conversion could be kicked and full time declared.

Look for much more from a very talented side as key starters return and the Maddogs get back to conference play.
